Blane Women's Rural Institute
The Blane Women's Rural Institute meets every third Thursday of the month at 7.30 p.m. in the Edmonstone Hall, Blanefield.
A year's membership is £12 but visitors are very welcome at any meeting at the cost of £1.00.
If your immediate picture of the Rural is middle-aged - elderly ladies wearing tweed skirts, twin sets with pearls sitting knitting, crocheting or sampling each other's scones - then think again. The Blane Rural has a group of ladies of all ages - all very modernly dressed, full of fun and game to try anything.
The monthly programmes vary from Witchcraft Accusations, How to Make Jewellery, Cake Decorating, Circle Dancing to many other interesting and enjoyable evenings.
